The pueblicos and their people
they look imperturbable at these city dwellers who,
hastily, they go towards a certain place
not knowing the rest through where they happen
It wrote these José Antonio Labordeta lines in his ‘Aragon in the backpack’ in 1983. And spent the time still those are many that cross these earth towards high mountains, without repairing in the beauty of the towns and landscapes of the way. Loaded places of history and hope. Places of great geographic, artistic and gastronomical beauty that deserve a stop in the way. Emblematic capitals as Graus and Barbastro that enter us in a country of monasteries, traditions and fight. A full country of beautiful and simple places, barely stained by tourists and that keeps in their heart and its people, a human quality and comparable landscaper to the one of any corner of our earth, or perhaps better.
After visiting Barbastro and the Somontano, we arrived Graus for, from here, we entered in the Eastern Ribagorza realising the same passage that José Antonio Labordeta did. A trip of five stages that we can do in a day in the long days. Or in several, if we want to visit with more tranquillity the beauties with which we were and to speak with its people, to listen to them in its language, in its accent. Olvena, Stem of Isábena, Obarra, Montañana. Only these names already deserve an evocative stroll. To silence with the vision of the Mountain Rock or the Turbón. To discover secrets and treasures as which it keeps the Colomina.
To cross millenarian bridges as the one of Capella. To follow the course of Aragonese mythical rivers as the Cinca, the Ésera, the Isábena, or the Noguera Ribagorzana whose waters will serve to us as guide. We travel by the confused ones and flooded you are contiguous of Aragon and Catalonia.
To cross the Ribagorza is to pass through a small full country of life and hopes, that we discovered with the spirit of Labordeta.
